Devotional 8: “Faith Over Fear”
Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Reflection:
Fear is one of the enemy’s most powerful tools to keep us from stepping into our divine calling. It whispers “What if you fail?” or “You’re not good enough,” or “This will never work.” I know those voices well—they’ve crept in at pivotal moments in my life.
But here’s the truth that silences fear: God didn’t give it to us. Fear is not from our Father. What He gives is power, love, and a sound mind.
There’s a reason “do not fear” is repeated so many times in Scripture. God knows that fear paralyzes purpose. It stops us from writing the book, starting the ministry, having the hard conversation, or stepping out in faith.
Courage isn’t the absence of fear—it’s the choice to move forward in spite of it, knowing Who goes before you.
When I finally started walking in obedience, it wasn’t because I had no fear—it was because I trusted the God who called me. I learned that faith always moves, even if it trembles. Every time I faced fear with faith, God showed up stronger than I expected.
You’re not alone in the fight against fear. But you are equipped. You’ve been given power. Love. Clarity of mind. And above all, you’ve been given God’s presence—and He is always enough.
Prayer:
Father, fear often tries to hold me back from what You’ve called me to do. But today, I choose faith. I choose to trust You more than I trust my feelings. Strengthen me to walk in the power, love, and sound mind You’ve given me. Help me rise up boldly and move forward in faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
