Devotional 6: “Seeking God First”

Devotional 6: “Seeking God First”
Scripture: Jeremiah 29:13
“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”

Reflection:
We often say we want to know God’s will, to understand His purpose for our lives. But sometimes we skip the most important step: truly seeking Him first. Not seeking answers. Not seeking direction. Seeking Him.
There was a time in my life when I was asking all the right questions, but I was still spiritually dry. I was praying, sure—but more out of duty than desire. I read the Bible—but mostly to check a box. Then one day I felt the Lord whisper, “Stop seeking My plan. Seek Me.”
That moment shifted everything.
God promises that when we seek Him with all our heart, we will find Him. Not just in part. Not just on Sundays. But in the quiet, in the chaos, in the middle of ordinary moments. He’s not hiding from us—He’s waiting to be pursued.
To seek God means to prioritize His presence over performance. To spend time with Him not just for what He can give, but for who He is. It’s about carving space in your day to talk to Him, listen, and soak in His Word—not for productivity, but for relationship.
The more I sought God, the more clearly I heard His voice. The more I desired Him, the more His desires became mine. That’s when His purpose began to unfold—not from striving, but from seeking.

Prayer:
Father, I don’t just want Your direction—I want You. Teach me to seek You with all my heart, not just in crisis, but every day. Help me to quiet the noise and listen for Your voice. Let my purpose flow from a deep and personal relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
