Devotional 2: “When You Don’t See the Way”

Devotional 2: “When You Don’t See the Way”

Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Reflection:

One of the hardest things about following God is trusting Him when life doesn’t make sense. I’ve lived through those moments—where everything seemed upside down, where doors slammed shut, and where prayers felt unanswered.

For years, I tried to force my own way forward. I thought if I worked harder, planned better, or made the right connections, I could shape the outcome I wanted. But God was gently saying, “Will you trust Me, even when you don’t understand?”

The truth is, God’s purpose doesn’t always come with a roadmap. Often, it unfolds one step at a time. And that’s where faith is refined—not in the mountaintop moments, but in the valleys where we don’t yet see the way.

God sees the whole picture while we see only a snapshot. When He leads us into uncertainty, it’s not to confuse us—it’s to draw us closer to Him. He doesn’t need us to have all the answers; He wants us to trust the One who does.

If you’re in a season of waiting, of wandering, or of wondering why, know this: God is still leading you. His silence is not His absence. His delays are not His denials. Acknowledge Him in your questions, and He will direct your path.

Prayer:

Lord, I admit that sometimes I try to take control because I’m afraid of the unknown. Help me to trust You with all my heart—even when I don’t understand what You’re doing. Teach me to rely on Your wisdom, not my own, and to follow You one step at a time. Amen.
