Devotional 7: “The Power of Obedience”
Scripture: 1 Samuel 15:22
“To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”
Reflection:
There comes a moment in every believer’s journey where God’s direction won’t always make sense. The calling might seem too big, the timing too strange, the instructions too unclear. But that’s where obedience is tested—and refined.
Obedience isn’t about understanding every step. It’s about trusting the One giving the instructions.
In my own walk, I’ve faced moments where obedience meant letting go of something comfortable or stepping into the unknown. It wasn’t always easy. Sometimes obedience required silence when I wanted to speak. Other times it meant acting boldly when I wanted to stay hidden.
But every time I chose obedience—even trembling obedience—I found God’s favor, peace, and presence waiting on the other side.
The world celebrates boldness, confidence, and control. But in God’s kingdom, obedience is the pathway to true success. It’s where transformation happens. It’s where purpose is revealed. And it’s how we show our love for Him—not just in words, but in action.
You may not feel ready. You may not have all the answers. But if God is leading, your obedience is enough. Don’t wait for the perfect conditions—walk forward in faith. He honors every step taken in obedience to His voice.
Prayer:
Lord, I want to follow You even when it’s hard, even when I don’t understand. Help me to obey You quickly, fully, and joyfully. Teach me that Your ways are always higher, and that true success begins with saying “yes” to Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
